500 Acres Terms of Use
(Updated October 2025)
Welcome to 500 Acres, the digital home of BarndosFoundation Inc. dba 500 Acres, together with its affiliated entities — 500 Acres Fund I, LP, 10k Acres LLC, and all related or subordinate organizations (collectively, “500 Acres,” “we,” “our,” or “us”).
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of our websites, digital tools, and AI systems (including Duke AI). By using any 500 Acres service, you’re agreeing to play by these rules. We’ll keep it plain: this is about mutual respect, transparency, and building together.
1. What You’re Saying “Yes” To
By using our sites or AI systems, you confirm that:
You’re at least 18 years old (or have permission if you’re younger).
You’ll use our platforms for lawful, constructive purposes.
You understand that all content, tools, designs, data, and AI interactions belong to 500 Acres and its affiliates.
If you don’t agree with these Terms, please don’t use the site or the AI tools. No hard feelings — but we take this stuff seriously.
2. Ownership & Intellectual Property
Everything you see or interact with here — including but not limited to text, graphics, designs, software, training data, and AI outputs — is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual-property laws.
You can use our materials for learning, research, or collaboration as intended. You can’t copy, resell, or misrepresent our work as your own without permission. If you contribute content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use it in connection with our mission and digital systems.
3. Use of Duke AI and Other Tools
Duke AI is our digital assistant designed to help translate, design, and build knowledge.
Use it thoughtfully:
Don’t feed it confidential or private information you wouldn’t want stored or analyzed.
Don’t use it for unlawful or misleading purposes.
Understand that Duke AI generates content based on available data — we aim for accuracy, but no system is perfect.
All data shared with Duke AI may be retained and analyzed to improve performance and collaboration within the 500 Acres ecosystem.
4. No Guarantees (But Lots of Good Intentions)
We strive for reliability and transparency. Still, our websites and AI systems are provided “as is.”
We make no guarantees about uninterrupted service, error-free data, or future availability.
You use the platform at your own risk — but we’ll do everything we can to make it a good experience.
5. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, 500 Acres, its affiliates, team members, and partners are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages that arise from your use (or inability to use) our services, even if we knew it might happen.
In plain English: we’ll act in good faith, but you agree not to hold us responsible for outcomes beyond our control.
6. Dispute Resolution – Let’s Start Human
We believe in solving problems the same way we build — collaboratively and with a level head.
If a dispute arises out of or relates to these Terms, our websites, or our AI tools, we’ll handle it in three steps:
Facilitation: The parties will first meet (virtually or in person) to talk it out with a neutral facilitator — someone both sides trust to keep things civil and productive.
Mediation: If that doesn’t do it, we’ll move to mediation with a qualified neutral under standard mediation procedures (such as through the American Arbitration Association).
Arbitration: If mediation still doesn’t resolve the issue, any remaining dispute will be finally settled by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Commercial Arbitration Rules.
The arbitration will take place in Ada County, Idaho, unless both sides agree otherwise.
Each party pays its own fees unless the arbitrator decides differently.
By agreeing to these Terms, you waive the right to a jury trial or to participate in a class action.
7. Changes to These Terms
We’ll update these Terms as our projects, technology, or partnerships evolve. When we do, we’ll post the new version with an updated date.
Continued use of our services means you accept the changes — so check back once in a while.
